Research

Ongoing Projects

Ongoing projects in the lab include:

  • biomarker discovery for prediction and diagnosis of pregnancy complications;
  • identification and validation of key regulators of human placental development;
  • modeling human pancreatic and hepatic development, both in vitro by directed differentiation of pluripotent stem cells and in silico using gene regulatory networks;
  • genomic and epigenomic characterization of different substates of pluripotency

Ongoing Clinical Research Projects

We also have a number of ongoing clinical research projects, including studying:

  • the clinical and psychological impacts of using next-generation sequencing for prenatal genetic diagnosis of babies with major birth defects
  • the physical and psychological effects of bedrest compared to moderate physical activity in pregnancies complicated by preterm premature rupture of membranes
